Cognition, the startup behind the AI coding assistant Devin, has raised $2 billion in a new funding round that elevates its valuation to $48 billion—nearly doubling its $26 billion valuation from May 2026.
The massive round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, and Avenir. Cognition revealed that its annualized revenue run rate has surged to $900 million (up from $492 million in May), driven by enterprise adoption across Fortune 500 engineering teams. Despite intense competition from GitHub Copilot, Anysphere (Cursor), and foundation model labs like OpenAI and Anthropic, the influx of capital demonstrates that venture investors view the software engineering automation sector as a multi-winner market rather than a single winner-take-all ecosystem. Cognition plans to deploy the fresh capital into compute infrastructure—leasing large-scale Nvidia GPU clusters—and expanding Devin’s autonomous software architecture capabilities.
