Meta has launched Muse, a multi-modal proactive AI agent designed to integrate deeply across its family of apps—including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger—to handle personal scheduling, automated shopping, and context-aware messaging.
Unlike passive chatbots, Muse operates in the background, analyzing user interactions, calendar feeds, and media preferences to offer unsolicited recommendations and execute tasks autonomously. The deployment represents Meta's most aggressive push yet into consumer-facing agentic AI, though data privacy advocacy groups have immediately raised concerns regarding continuous background data collection, user profiling, and whether consumers will grant the agent broad control over personal workflows.
