Advanced nuclear startup Bluecore Energy has closed a $50 million seed funding round led by Founders Fund and Lightspeed Venture Partners, coming just two months after the company emerged from stealth.
The startup is building small modular reactors (SMRs) optimized to provide dedicated micro-grid power directly to hyperscale data centers, aiming to bypass long interconnection queues and transmission grid bottlenecks. The capital will fund initial core component testing, regulatory engagement with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and site engineering evaluations as cloud providers rush to secure clean, zero-emission baseload power for next-generation AI workloads.
